Responsible use of quantitative scientometric indicators

Many institutions currently struggle with the appropriate and responsible use of quantitative scientometric indicators (QSI) while they are trying to implement the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) or an action plan for the CoARA Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment. This SYoS workshop is dedicated to the responsible use of QSI in research assessment. More specifically, its goal is to develop a practical users’ guide for institutions when assessing research proposals or careers on the basis of QSI.

Looking at Swiss Higher Education Institutions (HEI), we focus on:

1. Values, positions and conflicts of QSI;
2. Current use of QSI;
3. Vision for future use of QSI and necessary framework conditions;
4. Requirements and characterisation of QSI.

This work is conducted in collaboration with the with NAIF – a collaborative project of eight Swiss HEIs, funded by swissuniversities.

We are very pleased that Dr Regine Maritz has agreed to chair this workshop.
